This week, Ebony Senior Editor Jamilah Lemieux announced that she would be leaving the publication, and the editors of Seven Scribes want to officially wish her good luck on her next endeavors, and more importantly, thank her for all she has done in her tenure. Jamilah was a pioneer in shaping the online media space as we know it today, especially for black writers.
Her high standards and passion for uplifting young black voices changed the game. Her voice, incisive and principled, is one that has set the agenda for conversation in many ways– insisting in particular that we listen to and honor the voices of black women, challenge media narratives that subtly or not-so-subtly support white supremacy, and bring our whole honest selves to the table.
Jamilah: we see you, we thank you, and we can’t wait to see what you’ll be up to in the coming months and beyond.
