Announcing the Seven Scribes Fiction Call!

We are pleased to announce our inaugural fiction call!

We are selecting ten short fiction works for publishing in our very first Seven Scribes print edition. The theme of this collection is Beyond Ourselves. How you wish to interpret that is up to you. We’re flexible like that. We’re also pleased to announce Kiese Laymon and Daniel José Older as our guest editors for the project!

Here’s how this works. Submit a story under 10,000 words that deals with the theme of Beyond Ourselves along with a short summary. If we like your work, we’ll assign you an editor and get everything in tip-top shape for publishing in our print edition due out this summer.

This isn’t a contest per se. We aren’t entirely equipped to judge what the best or most deserving stories are and we’ll be adding some other works to the finished project. But this is a curated collection about what fits the theme and our vision best, and we’ll be sending every accepted story through our rigorous editorial process. Also, each of the ten accepted authors gets $125, a Super Black shirt, and a copy of the publication!

Deadline: March 1, 2016, 12:00pm EST
Rate: $125
